Sir, my concern is not whether God is on our side; my greatest concern is to be on God’s side, for God is always right.

I have searched for businessmen and women who made Christ the centre of their lives, but I have only found few, for instance, Pastor Mrs Ibukun Awosika. So, you can imagine my delight when I found out that an inventor in the 1900s was a Christian and made Mattew 6 vs 33 his way of life.

This has increased my dedication and commitment to my business journey. To build a business and a life where Christ is at the centre. So I hope as you read through this blog post, these bible passages inspire you to represent God in your business.

But first, see the life of R. G. LeTourneau, a Christian faithful who I heard would go to bed with a pen and paper and draw God-inspired machineries that were decades ahead of the world.
See eh, when it comes to God, nothing is impossible.

Sir Robert Gilmour LeTourneau

1. Mattew 6 vs 33
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. KJV

I believe this should be the centre of every businessman or woman’s life. We are God’s servants first called into business, therefore his will must become our will. To see God glorified is our essence. To see his kingdom here on earth and to fulfill his purpose through our lives which includes our businesses.

2. Mattew 5 vs 13–16

13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. NIV

As the salt and light of the world, our lives and businesses must be an effulgence of who God is.

3. Zachariah 4 vs 10

Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand. NLT.

I understand you want to grow but first, you must begin. Every master was once a student. Every pro was once an amateur. So, do not complain about your days of humble beginnings, there is a purpose they are there to serve. If Jesus didn’t learn from the scribes at age 12, how would he have known what was written concerning him when the devil tempted him?

Bask in the glory and teachings of your humble beginnings.

4. Isaiah 60 vs 11

Your gates will always stand open, they will never be shut, day or night, so that people may bring you the wealth of the nations — their kings led in. NIV

As long as you walk with God, there are promises kept for you and this is one of those.

5. Proverbs 22 vs 29

Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve before kings; they will not serve before officials of low rank. NIV

That we serve God means we must be excellent and diligent in our work. It was due to Jesus’s excellent and diligent work that salvation came to us. Even in the face of adversity, discomfort, and compromise, be diligent so the blessings attached to this scripture will be yours.

6. Isaiah 30 vs 21

Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” NIV

God is our guide and our light in confusion. He who sees the end from the beginning will tell us where to go and what to do when we need it. He will be the voice of reasoning.

7. James 1 vs 5

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. NIV

There are times in business when we need superior counsel and wisdom. God who is the giver of wisdom is the one to go to. And like a loving father, he doesn’t withhold his blessings from his children.

8. Psalm 125 vs 3

For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; Lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity. KJV

You will meet all manner of people in your business, those who are Christ-like and those who believe everything and all things must be done. But, God, your protector will see to it that you will not perish. Why? Because even though you walk through the valley of death, frustration, debt, etc you shall fear no evil because his rod and his staff protects you.

9. 2nd Peter 1 vs 3–11

By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires. In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone. The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But those who fail to develop in this way are shortsighted or blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their old sins. So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away. Then God will give you a grand entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. NLT

This explains itself. Thank you, Apostle Peter.

10. Psalm 84 vs 7

They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God. KJV

YOU grow from strength to strength in your life, in your business. Believe it.

11. Daniel 11 vs 32b

“… but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.” KJV

YOU shall do exploits. Believe it.

12. Isaiah 40 vs 31

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. KJV

In our walk with God, patience is key but hard. We want it done quickly, however, God’s time is the best. Remember how many years Abraham had to wait to get his Isaac, take your mind back to how many years Christ had to wait to begin his ministry. What of Joseph the Dreamer, he went from prison to the palace, how many years did it take? Wait on the Lord.

13. Psalm 125 vs 1

Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever. NIV

Man will fail you but God? Never. Trust in him. Make him your business partner. The owner, founder and chief executive officer. Remember, you are only but a steward, a mere servant. As you do this, watch God go above and beyond for you.

Rememeber, all these mean nothing if you have no relationship with God. Brother and sister, God loves you and he is not done with you yet. So make peace with God, accept him as your Lord and personal saviour. Don't forget to study the word, seek out teachings about the word from trusted and vetted men of God.

Remember, there is no honour in being mediocre in life, so refuse to dream small. Dream big because God will fund it.
