There is no force more powerful than a woman determined to rise.

They say March 8 is a day set aside to celebrate women and all the fantastic things we continue to do.

Wait, just one day? Don’t get me wrong, I also get tired of the multiple days used in a year to celebrate mothers who are also women but one internationally recognized day is too small, c’mon!

In my opinion, women should be celebrated every day. Take for example these incredible women in my life:

Nne’m: My mother. Sometimes, I wish I was the only child so I could have her all to myself. Her love is so fearless and tender, at the same time. I have seen my mother go from a loving lamb to a ferocious lion when it comes to protecting her children and it doesn’t matter who she is up against.
I remember when I was preparing for an interview and had healthy anxiety, I informed her of the situation, and she confidently said:

Remember that your mother is a lioness, you can never fail.

Okay mother, I see you and I love you. Her response made me chuckle and kept me calm during the interview stage. Now watchout, this lion cub can roar (remember that one time Simba tried to roar when those heinous hyenas surrounded him?)

My sisters: I don’t celebrate these two enough, especially the older of the two. She has a way of putting me on my toes. Of reminding me that slacking is not allowed. Super grateful for these angels. Although, I sometimes wish they could disappear for a while so I can have my mother all to myself, I love them to the moon and back. Wait, do I? 👀

Chinwendum: Ahan! My friend. Ore mi. We met in a WhatsApp group and her support has been what is the word I am looking for… Her support has been soul-soothing. You know when you meet someone and it just fits. Yeah, that’s how I describe my friendship with Hello Love. Thank you, baby, I am grateful you are in my life.

Nurse Adeniyi: She may never see this but she is a senior colleague at my place of work. She continues to ginger me to leave the country and dream higher. Thank you, Ma. She also does her portion of work whenever we work together. Which to be honest is a rare and admirable quality. Again, thank you Ma.

All my aunts: Let me not lie. I don’t hate any of you and I don’t like some of you either. We just dey. But you are all doing an amazing job raising my cousins. Thank you.

Female Cousins: Look at y’all making boss lady moves. I see you and I love you. Keep going cause I am rooting for us all.

This thank you list would be incomplete without the amazing mothers who stay by the bedside of their sick children praying and hoping for a break through. There are days I wish I could just snap my fingers and your children will be healed and there are days I marvel at the intensity of love mothers have for their kids. On either of these days, I hoped and I am hoping that God will continue to strengthen you and show up for you when in need.

This is why money needs to be made so when we pray for people, we activate the prayer with faith and finance.

Finally, to you my reader, THANK YOU. This blog started as an experiment but it keeps going stronger. Ese o.

Wait, there is one more person who is not on the list; ME.

Happy International Women’s Day to me. Someone said I am a force to be reckoned with but I’d like to think that I am just getting started.

Now, if you will excuse me, I gotta run.

Once again, Happy International Women’s Day to us.
