Men in Abuja: Mr. Secondus

The man in a white shirt looks like Mr. Secondus.

“So why don’t you have a boyfriend?” he asked, “I came to look for money in Abuja” I replied. “A good husband is better than a good job” he said with a note of finality. “Okay, Sir.” I replied because I was not in the mood to argue with a potential destiny helper.

Hello reader, meet Mr. Secondus who is in the same age group as every young Nigerian girl’s everyday crush; Richard Mofe-Damijo, only difference is, he is shorter, has a pot belly(as expected), is nefariously kind, and wants to get into the pants of every young blood I.e every girl in her 20s.

Beware of Mr. Secondus.

I met Mr. Secondus when I went job hunting, at first he seemed nice until he started acting too nice, in my usual manner I suspected his motives but hey he is my fathers’ age mate, so why would he want to have anything to do with me?

See, I am not naive but I have decided to keep my innocent layer on. Wait for people to make known their intentions but tactfully plot and maneuver every evil move of theirs.

Back to my story…

That’s how Mr. Secondus tried to guilt-trip me in our last conversation, in his words “So you don’t want to know anything about me? Or is it only the job you are after?” what else should I be after Sir? Your life? Your money? I wouldn’t mind your money though.

After our conversation, it dawned on me that this man wants to sleep with me o. But why nau? Why me? I mean I wasn’t the only one that met him, we were two ladies, why then did he choose me? Or is he also trying his luck with the other girl?

I tried asking my fellow job seeker and she gave me cold feet, I knew something was up, so I didn’t push further.

Don’t be fooled, there are a lot of Mr. Secondus’s in Abuja. Old men who you think want to help you without any strings attached but deep down they want you to ride them to heaven.

I am glad I am not desperate, if Abuja doesn’t work out for me, I will go back home or try another state. I understand not every young girl out there has the luxury of options but please be careful.

Like my girlfriend, Chioma said “That kinda life will make you have everything you want and live in luxury but at what expense is what you will check”

See you on the next episode of Men in Abuja, meanwhile, you should read my Osaro story, he is also a man in Abuja.

Be safe and use your head.
