The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

Ah! It’s a new year, and I have so much to hope for. There are so many goals to achieve and so much faith to hold on to because I know my life can change in a minute.

But you see, it’s not the minute of change that begins the change. It is the countless number of hours, sacrifices, and investments of resources leading up to that minute.

Some days, I forget how amazing last year was because I do not love to dwell on past glories. A goal WAS achieved; what’s the next plan? That’s how my head works. Although it has its disadvantages, I believe the benefits are better.

I have a set of written goals because the Bible says in Habakkuk 2 vs. 2: And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. In addition, I am taking a cue from James Clear’s Atomic Habits because I have come to realize that I fall to the level of my systems, not goals.

While preparing for the theme of this year, I was lost on which to go with, so I decided that Psalm 23 was it for me.

In supernatural ways, saying this psalm has calmed my heart whenever I am troubled. It has stilled my fears whenever I am scared. Has given me hope in times of hopelessness. And it continues to build my faith.

What bible verse or chapter are you holding on to this year? Let me know in the comment section.
